The Awards are a celebration of equality and creating opportunity for platforms to recognize the queer community and Kulture in Namibia. Being queer in the Namibian republic has proved difficult for many individuals and with little representation and support many end up feeling lonely or on occasions suicidal. It is thus the reason we see a rise in organizations and platforms ready to advocate for and celebrate LGBTQIA+ life in Namibia, one such platforms is the new Spectrum Awards. The awards ceremony aims at creating visibility of the community, whilst creating opportunities and to motivate the community to work hard to be recognized through the various platforms available in their respective fields.
